"Laurelwood Arboretum" has been called the best kept secret in Wayne, NJ. This land, a 30 plus acre botanical oasis within the Pines Lake Community was originally own by John and Dorothy Knippenberg. They purchased the Land in the 1940's and 1950's. For many years they used this land as an active commercial nursery that specialized in Rhododendrons and Azaleas. (Maybe it is no accident that the surrounding homes are beautifully and generously dotted with these plantings.) As the years passed, it became renowned in the horticultural world for it's registered hybrids, pristine natural beauty, tranquility and the dedicated expertise of it's founders. In 1960 the Knippenbergs donated the Laurelwood to Wayne township with the understanding that it would become a public park upon their death. In 2006 it became part of Wayne Department of Parks and Recreation. Laurelwood Arboretum is now preserved and maintained through an agreement between the nonprofit volunteer organization, Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum and the Township of Wayne. Check out this amazing Botanical Oasis, located at 725 Pines Lake Drive West and experience the tranquility and pristine natural beauty offered year round. #lakecommunity #homesforsale #laurelwoodarboretum For more information or to become a member please visit us at:
